Vietnam, Russia strengthen defense ties

(VOVWORLD) - Russia always treasures cooperation with Vietnam, said Andrey Valeryevich Kartapolov, Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the Main Directorate for Political-Military Affairs of the Russian Armed Forces, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

He pledged to support the Vietnamese Army in all fields and said he believes that the two countries’ defense ties will achieve good results in the future.

Meeting the Russian guests in Hanoi on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said the defense partnership is one of the important pillars of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, which is expanding and becoming increasingly effective. Mr. Binh said Vietnam is ready to help Russia develop relations with ASEAN countries and participate in the region’s defense mechanism. He urged the two countries’ Defense Ministries to enhance cooperation in a long-term, practical, and reliable manner in accordance with international treaties.
