Vietnam strongly backs Palestine’s struggle

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, has voiced his concerns over mounting violence in the West Bank, saying the Israeli and Palestine people must be protected equally. Quy urged all parties involved, especially the Israeli authorities, to try to end the violence there.

Quy made this statement at a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Middle East situation and extending the operation of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights.
Ambassador Quy called for full implementation of UNSC Resolution 2334, related resolutions, and international law to keep the situation from deteriorating. He called on the Quad (the United States, Australia, India, and Japan) to promote the Middle East peace process and further humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians.
Quy said Vietnam strongly supports the Palestinian people’s just struggle and an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital to peacefully coexist with the State of Israel.
Meeting participants congratulated Vietnam on a successful term as a non-permanent UN Security Council members in 2021.
