Vietnam supports BRICS and other multilateral cooperation mechanisms

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead a high-ranking delegation to attend the expanded BRICS summit in Kazan city, Russia, from Wednesday to Thursday.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi  said PM Chinh's working trip is a high-level foreign activity of great significance, affirming Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, international integration, and promoting the voice and representation of developing countries on global issues.  

"Vietnam’s participation conveys the Vietnamese message of supporting the role of multilateral co-operation forums and mechanisms, including BRICS, operating on the basis of respect for the UN Charter in accordance with international law," said Mr. Khoi.

PM Chinh is scheduled to meet with leaders of other countries and international organizations to discuss measures to boost cooperation in areas of mutual concern.

The BRICS group comprises  Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
