Vietnam surpasses regional countries in COVID-19 vaccination rate

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam became the 53rd country in the world to achieve the goal of administering basic doses of COVID-19 vaccine for 70% of its population by Monday, said the website covidvax.live, which updates the rate of vaccination in the world.

According to the page, only 63 countries and territories have achieved this target among more than 220 countries and territories reporting data on pandemic prevention and control.In Asia, Vietnam’s vaccination speed and quantity is higher than that of Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, India and Indonesia. Outside Asia, Vietnam has been lower than the US’s vaccine coverage by only two grades.

Experts projected in early 2021 that it would take Vietnam until April 2022 to vaccinate the necessary number of doses for its population.

Russia’s Sputnik News Agency said that in just a short period time, Vietnam from a country with a low rate of COVID-19 vaccination has become one of the world's leading fast-vaccination countries thanks to its constant vaccine diplomacy strategy.

Vaccine diplomacy, an unprecedented diplomatic strategy in Vietnam's history, has been drastically deployed in all activities, helping Vietnam master vaccines, adopt safe adaptation, and effectively control the COVID-19 pandemic to revive socio-economic development.

International relations experts said difficulties facing Vietnam's vaccine diplomacy strategy are resolved in a broad way through the dense frequency of foreign trips of Vietnamese leaders. Through the vaccine strategy, Vietnam's diplomacy has very well promoted its pioneering role in handling challenges.
