Vietnam, Switzerland deepen mutual trust

(VOVWORLD) - Switzerland’s Vice President and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis is on an official visit to Vietnam from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

During talks in Hanoi on Thursday, the two Ministers highlighted the development of bilateral ties. They agreed to increase delegation exchanges and visits between high ranking leaders, ministries, sectors and localities to enhance mutual understanding and trust and further cooperation post-COVID-19.

They promised to create favorable conditions for their businesses to expand cooperation and investment, and to soon finalize the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Europe Free Trade Area.

They agreed to enhance cooperation at multilateral forums including ASEAN and the UN. 

Minister Son thanked New Zealand for presenting Vietnam with 500,000 kits of quick tests, 300,000 anti-bacterial facemasks and 30 respirators worth more than 5 million USD. Vietnam also asked Switzerland to help the country access COVId-19 vaccines and medicines as well as other medical equipment.
