Vietnam, UAE upgrade bilateral ties to comprehensive partnership

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership during their talks at the Royal Palace in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the outstanding developments in the two countries' relationship, with strengthened political trust and mutual understanding, more substantive economic cooperation, and  closer and more effective coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

On that basis, to meet the aspirations of the leaders and people of the two countries as well as the desire to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, the two sides agreed to upgrade relationship, making the UAE Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in the Middle East region.

Prime Minister Chinh and the UAE President agreed on six priority areas for future cooperation, including developing action programs to immediately deploy the Comprehensive Partnership framework; boosting cooperation on innovation, green transformation, digital transformation, and circular economy; and creating a breakthrough in bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.

They stressed the need to work together to develop the Halal industry and open the market for Vietnamese Halal products; strengthen cooperation in labor, culture, tourism, sports, people-to-people exchanges and close coordination, consultation and mutual support in regional and world issues at multilateral forums.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister also asked UAE authorities to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in the UAE.

The UAE President affirmed that he will actively direct relevant UAE agencies to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to implement the visit’s outcomes. He said he is pleased with the increasing number of Vietnamese working in the UAE and pledged to create conditions for Vietnamese people to settle down in the UAE.

He also voiced his support for the establishment of the Vietnamese Cultural Center in the UAE, adding that he will direct the implementation of a number of specific projects such as supporting a local youth football academy in Vietnam and building a financial center in Ho Chi Minh City.
