Vietnam upholds principle of peaceful resolution of international disputes

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam stands by its principle of resolving international disputes through peaceful means, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu at a conference of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The conference was held for the first time by the PCA, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vietnam International Law Association, to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the inauguration of the PCA Office in Hanoi, which is the PCA’s fifth representative office overseas.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Vu said the Vietnamese government supports the PCA’s activities and wishes to collaborate with the organization through its office in Hanoi.

PCA Secretary General Marcin Czepelak said the PCA wishes to collaborate with Vietnamese agencies through the PCA Office in Hanoi to improve Vietnam’s regulations and meet international standards on arbitration proceedings, and create favorable conditions for international arbitrators.

The secretary general added that he hopes the conference will become an annual event to allow Vietnam to become a regular venue for arbitration proceedings for cases managed by the PCA.
