Vietnam values traditional friendship with Democratic Republic of Congo

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship with the Democratic Republic of Congo as he received Vital Kamerhe, President of the Congolese National Assembly, in Can Tho city on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Chairman Man said parliamentary cooperation is an important channel in the overall good relations between the two countries on both bilateral and multilateral levels. He expected to promote parliamentary relations, in which the two sides focus on exchanging high-level delegations between leaders of the two countries' National Assembly, as well as specialized agencies of the two legislatures.

Vital Kamerhe said there is ample room for development cooperation between Vietnam and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He emphasized that the two countries' National Assemblies play an important role in promoting this cooperative relationship. Congo hopes that Vietnam will share its experience in agriculture, agricultural processing, energy, among others. The top legislator suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in agriculture, a field in which Vietnam has had strengths.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to establish a Friendship Parliamentarians' Group of each country, calling it an important premise for the two sides to promote cooperation and continue to support each other at global and regional inter-parliamentary forums.
