The two sides acknowledged the Catholic Church’s positive contributions to Vietnam’s development under the spirit of “living the Gospel in the heart of the nation” and being “both good Catholics and good citizens.”

They praised progress in bilateral ties since the 11th meeting in Hanoi in May 2024 and agreed on the importance of continuing to promote relations through high-level exchanges and regular meetings of the Joint Working Group.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation met Pope Leo XIV, paid courtesy calls on Vatican Prime Minister Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Foreign Minister Archbishop Paul Gallagher.
