Vietnam voices stance on Middle East situation at UN General Assembly emergency special session

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, has condemned all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, saying that Vietnam is deeply concerned about the current tense situation in the Middle East, especially losses to civilians.

The ambassador conveyed his sincere condolences to the families of victms of the recent attacks.

At the UN General Assembly’s recent emergency session on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Ambassador Giang called on all parties to immediately cease fire, ensure the safety of and immediate release of all hostages, and minimize damage to essential civilian infrastructure.

He called for urgent humanitarian assistance to people in the Gaza Strip, especially water, food, and medicine. Mr. Giang urged relevant parties to create favorable conditions to allow humanitarian access and deploy timely and unhindered humanitarian relief operations to reach affected people in need, while ensuring the safety of aid workers.

Ambassador Giang called on the UN and the UN Security Council to have a unified and constructive message to help reduce tensions, end fighting, protect civilians, and support the parties to engage in dialogue and negotiations.
