(VOVworld) – The General Logistics Department of the Vietnam People’s Army has been awarded Vietnam’s first class military medal and marked its 65th traditional day anniversary.

Addressing the ceremony in Hanoi on Friday, President Truong Tan Sang said there are increasing territorial conflicts in the East Sea and sabotage by hostile forces against the Party, state, and Vietnamese people’s revolutionary cause. In this context, national defense has become a paramount task for the Party, people, and army.
President Sang said: “as a consultant to the Party, state, and Ministry of National Defense the logistics sector should fulfill its role in outlining strategies and plans to ensure defense logistic services, securing the logistics for each troop, each branch, and each defense region. We should coordinate military logistics with the economic development of each locality, each defense region, and the nation. It is essential to tap the strength of the people for national defense.”
