According to a recent report by OpenGov Asia, Vietnam has emerged as the fastest-growing e-commerce market in Southeast Asia. Over the past four years, the Vietnamese e-commerce market has maintained a steady growth trajectory, achieving the highest average annual growth rate globally, ranging from 16% to 30%.
A survey by the Vietnam E-commerce Association reveals that more than half of enterprises nationwide have already deployed online sales channels. The survey also found that 44% of businesses have established their own websites, 58% are selling through social media platforms, and over 24% are participating in e-commerce marketplaces.
Dr. Vo Tri Thanh, an economic expert, said: "The development of e-commerce presents enormous potential and opportunity. It's not by chance that we consider digital transformation and the growth of the digital economy as a golden opportunity for Vietnam, a latecomer, to catch up with global trends. E-commerce is a crucial component of the digital economy, effectively bridging the 'virtual' and 'real' worlds. While the digital and real worlds may sometimes seem separate, the true value of the digital economy lies in driving the development of the real economy."
