Vietnam’s Ambassador to UN completes working term

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy on Tuesday successfully completed his term of office as Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations in the US and left for Vietnam.

Earlier, Ambassador Quy attended farewell meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UN Deputy Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix. He also met with ambassadors and chiefs of delegations of many UN member countries, aand other international partners and friends, who praised the contributions of Vietnam and Ambassador Quy to the UN’s work in recent years, which has boosted Vietnam’s prestige in the world community.

During his term of office which began in July 2018, he pushed Security Council to adopt several important documents, including Resolutions on "Protecting infrastructure essential to people's lives" and "The international residual mechanism for criminal tribunals”

In 2020, Ambassador Quy assumed the role of Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in New York and pushed the UN General Assembly to pass a Resolution on ASEAN-UN Cooperation with 110 co-sponsor countries.

In 2021, Ambassador Quy worked to have General Assembly adopt Resolutions to make December 27 an International Day of Epidemic Preparedness and to establish A Group of Friends of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
