(VOVWORLD) -The Xuan Hong (red spring) festival – the biggest annual blood donation campaign of the season – begins Monday and organizers aim to receive at least 6,000 units of blood.

The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Hanoi Youth Association for encouraging blood donation are collecting blood in various locations around Hanoi, including Luong Ngoc Quyen, Quan Nhan, Nguyen Truong To, Lang road, the Agricultural General Hospital and the People's Committee of Trau Quy Town.
The week-long campaign is themed "Blood donation in early spring - Multiply happiness". Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said the campaign is well received.
“We see that people have actually chosen blood donation as an activity for good luck at the beginning of the new year. Previously, there were people who hesitated and did not want to lose blood at the beginning of the year, but now many come to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day of Tet because they think that this volunteering activity will bring good luck to their family. Many people come with their relatives to donate blood on the first days of the New Year,” he said.
Running for 15 years and receiving more than 100,000 blood units, the Red Spring festival is spreading and arousing thousands of benevolent hearts in the community.
