Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) announced Tuesday the Global Connections Report, and forecasted that Vietnam’s total trade value will rise by 187 percent in the next 15 years, almost double the increase in global trade. According to the HSBC Trade Confidence Index, the confidence of international businesses in Vietnam remains stable and relatively high. The survey shows that, in the short term, intra-regional trade will play an important role for Vietnamese businesses over the next 6 months. Vietnam’s major export partners include the US, Japan, China, and Germany. Exports to these markets will remain strong, with the US being the largest. Exports to Japan are forecast to increase by around 6 percent while export growth to China is expected to be particularly strong at over 10 percent. Vietnam’s main import partners are China, followed by South Korea, Singapore, and Japan.
