(VOVWORLD) -Since July 1, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has broadcast news and current affairs as well as cultural and social programs on medium wave from the North Central Broadcasting Station.
Specifically, VOV1 programs are aired on the frequency of 630Khz and VOV2 programs on the frequency of 729Khz with each frequency’s broadcast duration of 19 hours and 15 minutes a day, from 4.45 a.m to midnight.
VOV’s Vice President Vu Hai Quang said: “The north-central region has a strategic position in term of economics, politics, culture, society, and national security. Our survey found that communication methods in this area are still limited. People access information mainly by listening to the radio, especially those in remote and ethnic areas. To strengthen communication of the Party guidelines and the State laws and raise people's general knowledge, VOV and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province have relocated the North Central Broadcasting Station from Dong Hoi city center to the suburban area."
After the trial, VOV has officially relayed programs of VOV1 and VOV2 since July 1, covering Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, part of Thua Thien Hue province and the Vietnam-Laos border area. VOV broadcasts also cover north-central sea areas and the Gulf of Tonkin.
