Mr. Park told the press that the WHO believes Vietnam can halt the current outbreak through its whole-of-society approach, which has been followed by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control since the pandemic first arrived in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Park, the outbreaks in most provinces and cities are basically under control, but in a few localities like Ho Chi Minh City, new cases and clusters of unknown origin are being reported.

He urged coordinated actions between all ministries and sectors and elicit compliance by the public to quickly control the outbreaks. He said the WHO has been working and will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health to provide the most recent scientific evidence to support the Government in its pandemic decision-making.
