Nearly 1,400 schools of 158 countries and territories were assessed by the 2020 QS World University Rankings according to subject. Cần Thơ University was given the highest rank in Vietnam and ranked in the 251-300 group amongst other Agriculture & Forestry schools which major in Farming, Breeding, Fishery. Cần Thơ University is the only Vietnamese entry in the subject of Agriculture & Forestry.

According to Associate Professor Doctor Lê Văn Vàng, Head of the College of Agriculture at Cần Thơ University, universities were ranked by four criteria: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Research citations per paper, and the H-index. The final criteria, H-index, is a numerical indicator to measure the productivity and influence of a researcher and how this particular researcher is acknowledged amongst his or her peers in the scientific community. The College of Agriculture at Cần Thơ University scored 62.4 on the H-index, making it the highest score in relationship to the other three criteria.

Doctor Vàng said: “Due to the fact that the Agro- Forestry subject has been included in the QS rankings, the agricultural technologies developed by Can Tho University will draw greater attention worldwide. Nonetheless, we are working tirelessly towards development and growth, not a ranking.”
