Ambassador Nguyen Nguyet Nga and Ambassador Nguyen Thai Yen Huong, who are representatives of Vietnam in AWPR, delivered speeches and led a discussion during the meeting.

They  shared Vietnam's priorities as ASEAN Chair 2020 and as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 period in promoting cooperation on women, peace and security at regional and global levels.

The Vietnamese delegates said that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation of the ASEAN agenda on women-peace-security must pay special attention to supporting women and girls who are seriously affected by the epidemic, boost the realization of UN Sustainable Development Goals, and address the origin of conflicts such as poverty, discrimination, gender inequality, epidemics, extremism, violence, and terrorism.

At the debate, Ambassador Nga focused on the priorities which the AWPR can work on by making full use of the digital technology platform, promoting women’s roles, and educating young people on peace values.
