Blood donation drive Red Journey 2019 moves to Ninh Binh
(VOVWORLD) - Ninh Binh province on Friday launched a blood donation campaign entitled “Hoa Lu Pink Drop 2019” and honored outstanding blood donors.

The event is part of a national campaign under the theme “Red Journey” which is taking place in 39 out of Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces from June 13 until the end of next month. Speaking at the event, Pham Tuan Duong, Deputy Head of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said the campaign has drawn the participation of 46 cities and provinces across Vietnam over the past 6 years. It has contributed to raising public awareness on voluntary blood donation, encouraging thousands of volunteers to engage in blood donation activities in different localities.
The “Hoa Lu Pink Drop 2019” aimed to collect 800 blood units. On this occasion, 6 individuals and 3 families were honored for their exceptional contributions to the local blood donation movement.
The Red Journey drive was launched in the Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau on Thursday. 3,000 blood units are expected to be collected in Ca Mau. Blood donor Nguyen Hong Nguyen said: “I think blood donation is important. It helps patients and improves the health of donors. It does no harm at all. I feel very happy when I share my blood to save others’ lives.”
The Ca Mau provincial People’s Committee took this occasion to honor outstanding individual and organizational blood donors.
