In Thang An commune, Da Nang, the municipal Party Committee held an outreach session Wednesday on combating IUU, in collaboration with the Coast Guard Region 2 Command. 

Officers from the Coast Guard Region 2 gave examples of common IUU violations and discussed IUU regulations. Fishermen attending the sessions signed a commitment not to engage in, broker, or support IUU fishing practices.

A mock trial was held in Cat Hai special zone, Hai Phong city, on Wednesday to raise public awareness of IUU regulations. It attracted a fair number of fishermen and boat owners and made them aware of the penalties for using explosives to fish.

The mock trial was organized by the People’s Procuracy and People’s Court of Hai Phong’s Zone 4, the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, the Hai Phong Border Guard Command, the Cat Hai Special Zone People’s Committee, and other relevant parties.
