(VOVworld) – A special art program entitled “Bright eyes for the elderly” took place in Hanoi on Monday to raise money for free eye surgeries and check-ups for the elderly.

President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Cu Thi Hau said the event upholds Vietnam’s tradition of mutual affection and contributes to the Party and State’s social security policy.“The achievements have shown the commitment of the Party, the State, and authorities at all levels as well as the contributions of the entire society, and domestic and international donors who have supported the program over the past 3 years. I hope the program will continue to bring more happiness to the elderly.”

Since it was launched 3 years ago, approximately 2.2 million elderly people have benefited from the program which has raised more than 20 million USD.
