The event is jointly sponsored by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi in response to the movement "For the poor – leaving no one behind" until 2025 initiated by the Prime Minister. It aims to promote Vietnam’s tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance and mobilize additional resources to support the poor and contribute to the city’s poverty reduction and social welfare goals.

Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, said that since the beginning of this year, more than 4 million USD from the Fund for the Poor has been allocated to build and repair houses for disadvantaged people.

But, she said, Hanoi still has a number of poor and near-poor households with inadequate housing and livelihoods in need of support.

Huong made the call to sectors, businesses, organizations, and benefactors at home and abroad and agencies at all levels to join efforts to help the poor, donate to the Fund for the Poor, and support municipal social security programs in the spirit of leaving none of the poor behind.

The month for the poor and social welfare 2024 will continue through November 18.
