Medical equipment destined for HCMC to treat COVID-19 patients

(VOVWORLD) - A cargo train departed Hanoi on Sunday morning for Ho Chi Minh City carrying medical equipment and supplies from Bach Mai hospital to help the southern city fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On-board the train are ventilators, oxygen respirators, monitoring machines, electric injectors, continuous renal replacement therapy devices, colour Doppler ultrasound scanners, external defibrillator, CPR devices, clinical chemistry monitors, and ECMO machines. Earlier, these devices were used to help treat COVID-19 patients in the northern Bac Giang province, a former COVID-19 hotpot in Vietnam.

“The train is transporting medical supplies to help treat severe COVID-19 patients in an intensive care unit of more than 500 beds at a 3000-bed field hospital in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7," said Dao Xuan Co, Deputy Director of Bach Mai hospital.

Bach Mai hospital has also sent a  of experienced medical staff to HCMC to run the field hospital. In the coming days, thousands of medical staff will be dispatched to HCMC to help treat COVID-19 patients at this field hospital,” he added.

On Sunday morning, the Ministry of Defence’s General Department of Logistics inaugurated a 500-bed field hospital No.5D to receive and treat COVID-19 patients in HCMC and the neighboring province of Binh Duong.
