(VOVWORLD) - Socio-economic development until 2025 to realize resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and of the previous National Assembly was high on the agenda at the first meeting of the 15th Government for the 2021-2026 tenure.

During the online meeting on Wednesday, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong asked the Government to promote the achievements and lessons learned from previous tenures for Vietnam’s advancement on its “Renewal” (Doi Moi) path. He urged the Government to improve efficiency and quality in the new development period in order to achieve its set goals.
Party leader Trong said, “We will go all-out for our six key tasks and three strategic breakthroughs for Vietnam’s rapid and sustainable development. Macro-economic stability, science, technology, and innovation are the foundation for moving forward. We need to tap our advantages, restructure our economy based on the growth models, and boost economic productivity, quality, efficiency, and competiveness. Coordinated measures are needed to fuel our pandemic resistance and economic recovery. Vietnamese cultural values and the creativity of every individual should be brought to bear."
He went on to say, "We aim for social security, democracy, equity, and people’s happiness and prosperity, with due attention to environmental protection and climate change response. Vietnam insists on defending its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Among our ultimate goals are a peaceful environment for development and active international integration to elevate Vietnam’s global status.”

The Party leader directed the Government in its new tenure to coordinate socio-economic development with national defense and social security in all of its strategies and plans.
