PM urges for flood recovery efforts to achieve growth target of 3%
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday requested that ministries, sectors, and localities, especially flood-hit provinces, to work harder and overcome difficulties to contribute to achieving the national growth target of 2-3%.

At a regular government meeting, the Prime Minister quoted statistics as saying the number of newly established enterprises in October increased by nearly 19%, the number of enterprises returning to operation also increased by over 10% compared to with the same period. Inflation is controlled. In October, Vietnam attracted foreign investment projects worth 4.4 billion USD.
Citing difficulties such as epidemics, natural disasters, and trade tensions, the Prime Minister repeated the Government’s determination achieve the dual goal of fighting COVID-19 and developing economy. He said efforts and resources must be focused to recover from severe natural disasters.
Mr. Phuc said October’s widespread flooding in central Vietnam killed 230 people and caused great loss of property. The Prime Minister praised efforts to evacuate 1.3 million people to escape typhoons. The government has allocated 4.4 million USD to each of Vietnam’s five central provinces for flood recovery.
Prime Minister Phuc warned against complacency in dealing with epidemics and urged for strict management of immigration at the border gates, creating favorable conditions for experts and investors and bringing citizens back home. He requested that the health sector ensure human resources and medical equipment to promptly respond to contingencies.
