Scholars, international friends highly value President Ho Chi Minh’s global legacy

(VOVWORLD) - On the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh’s 135th birth anniversary (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), several historians, politicians, and international friends have shared deep reflections on his enduring influence on both Vietnam and the world.

French historian Pierre Journoud emphasized that “President Ho Chi Minh holds a great position in the history of national and colonial liberation in the 20th century,” Journoud described Ho Chi Minh as both a strategic thinker and a visionary, whose practical leadership style earned him admiration from around the world and a vast network of international allies.

Echoing this view, fellow French historian Alain Ruscio noted the deep connection between Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people. He described this bond as “almost unique in human history, or at least extremely rare,” highlighting the exceptional unity and emotional link that defined their relationship.

From Argentina, journalist and scholar Gaston Fiorda praised Ho Chi Minh as "the most beautiful symbol of Vietnamese patriotism and revolutionary heroism." Fiorda noted that the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh embodies profound humanistic values that continue to illuminate the path for future generations. According to him, President Ho Chi Minh's legacy on national construction, economic development, improving people’s material and spiritual well-being remains relevant today.

Pallab Sengupta, Secretary and Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Central Committee and Chairman of the World Peace Council, reaffirmed CPI’s long-standing admiration for President Ho Chi Minh. He described him as a great figure in the global struggle for national liberation, socialism, and anti-imperialism. Sengupta emphasized that Ho Chi Minh’s leadership during Vietnam’s resistance wars inspired not only the Vietnamese people but also revolutionary activitsts and oppressed nations across the globe, including India. For the CPI, Ho Chi Minh remains a symbol of resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication to the people's cause.
