(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam ranked 47th of 127 economies surveyed in 2017’s Global Innovation Index (GII), moving up 12 places since last year.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Khanh told a conference in Hanoi on Thursday that this is the highest GII ranking Vietnam has achieved.

Vietnam’s GII topped the 27 lower-middle income countries on the list and ranked third among ASEAN members, behind Singapore and Malaysia. Sacha Wunsch-Vincent, a senior expert with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) attributed Vietnam’s progress to its business and investment climate, which creates favorable conditions for innovation to thrive.
