Vietnam’s e-vaccine passports applicable in 81 countries, territories

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s e-vaccine passports are applicable in 81 countries and territories, said Deputy spokesperson for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry Doan Khac Viet at a regular press conference in Hanoi on Thursday.

Mr. Viet said so far, Vietnam has signed vaccine passport recognition with 20 countries including Japan, the US, the UK, Australia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia.

Mr. Viet said: "On May 11, the European Commission issued a decision to recognize Vietnam’s e-vaccine passport in 27 EU countries and QR code of this passport will be verified in 39 partners that participate in the EU’s e-vaccine passport system. So far, Vietnam’s e-vaccine passport can be used in 81 countries and territories. This is attributed to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Communications."

In regard to humanitarian support for Ukraine, Mr. Viet said Vietnam shares the international community’s deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the need to end the use of force, ensure security and safety for the people, protect infrastructure, respect and enforce international humanitarian law, ensure the right of foreign community in Ukraine including the Vietnamese community to access humanitarian support. In response to the UN’s call, Vietnam will contribute 500,000 USD including 100,000 USD for the Central Emergency Response Fund, 100,000 for the World Health Organization, 100,000 for UNICEF, and 200,000 via the Red Cross of Vietnam to the Red Cross in Ukraine to help people.
