Vinacomin set to upgrade coal production model
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) is set to upgrade its coal production model to boost growth in 2020 and fulfill its tasks for the 2016-2020 period.

Speaking at a Vinacomin review meeting on Friday in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung praised the corporation for setting records in sales, output and employee’s wage, and fulfilling all targets since 2012.
"It’s necessary to boost the energy sector’s development to ensure national energy security and energy for socio-economic development, as Vietnam is in its industrialization and modernization process. The coal sector is tasked with important duties of generating adequate electricity and ensuring enough coal for electricity generation," said Mr. Dung.
Coal production last year amounted to 40.5 million tonnes, while coal sales reached 44 million tonnes, the highest since 2014. Domestic coal consumption reached nearly 43 million tonnes, up 8% from 2018.
