These pagodas are not only places for islanders to practice their religion, but also enduring symbols of Vietnam’s sovereignty. All of them face the mainland, symbolizing a deep and constant connection to the nation’s roots.
Venerable Thich Nhuan Hieu, Head of Da Tay A pagoda, said local residents regularly visit the pagoda on full moon days, the first days of each lunar month, and during the Lunar New Year. “The local islanders and soldiers come to pray for national peace, prosperity, and good health for all people and for the safety and well-being of all people on Da Tay Island,” said Venerable Thich Nhuan Hieu.
