Ho Chi Minh cultural space educates younger generation about patriotism

(VOVWORLD) - At Ho Chi Minh cultural spaces at schools in Binh Duong province, students can watch documentary films about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, read stories about him, and participate in educational games. Those activities help educate the younger generation about Vietnam’s tradition of patriotism and encourage them to strive harder in their studies and in their life.

The Ho Chi Minh cultural space at Phu Hoa 3 primary school in Thu Dau Mot city is decorated with bamboo and wood. A display of rubber sandals, a fabric pith helmet, and other objects and documents related to Ho Chi Minh serves as a small museum that teaches students about the great man’s life and career. Highlighted are stories about President Ho Chi Minh’s interactions with children.

"Weve selected content thats most relatable to the students, with themes that will help them better understand President Ho Chi Minh," said principal Le Thi Kim Thuy.

The Ho Chi Minh cultural space at Ly Thuong Kiet primary school in Di An city features a flagpole, modeled after the one in Ba Dinh Square. It stands on a bookshelf that’s shaped like a five-petaled flower. Other models, of Nha Rong wharf, President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house, and Pac Bo Cave, remind students of heroic periods in Vietnam’s history.

“The miniatures, photos, documents, and books at the cultural space encourage teachers and pupils to study and follow the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh,” said principal Trieu Quoc Thanh.

Through the Ho Chi Minh cultural space, students at Phu Hoa 3 and Ly Thuong Kiet primary school also learn about President Ho’s humble personality.

“I often read about the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh. Im most interested in how he traveled around the world to seek national salvation,” said student Nguyen Thao Nguyen.

“President Ho Chi Minh was a great leader who loved people, especially children. Well study hard to show our gratitude for what he did to enable us to enjoy the life we have today,” said student Vu Bao Ngoc.

It is expected that every school in Binh Duong province will have a Ho Chi Minh corner or Ho Chi Minh cultural space by the end of this academic year.

“At primary schools, each Ho Chi Minh cultural space is integrated with a bookcase and reading activities to promote the childrens interest in President Ho Chi Minh and encourage them to study and follow his moral example,” Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyet, head of Binh Duong’s Preschool and Primary Education Section, said.
