Phase 2 of the Dong Dang, Lang Son – Tra Linh, Cao Bang expressway project was launched on Tuesday. The construction of the 121-kilometer expressway, with an investment of 870 million USD, will take place in two phases to be completed by December. The expressway connects the Huu Nghi-Chi Lang and Bac Giang-Lang Son routes, forming a vital transportation corridor from Quang Ninh to Lang Son and Cao Bang to expedite trade with China and Europe.
Ly Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Cao Bang Economic Zone Management Board, said: “Once the expressway is completed, investment, import, and export activities will be spurred. We’re upgrading functional zones in border gate areas, so together with the expressway, they will create more opportunities for investors. We’ll work with local authorities and relevant sectors to review land reserve and land use for border gates to help investors implement projects.”

In southern Vietnam, the Rach Mieu bridge was inaugurated ahead of schedule. Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan said: “The Rach Mieu bridge represents Vietnam’s growing technological capability. Previously, in order to build a cable-stayed bridge we had to hire foreign contractors and consultants and construction took a long time. This bridge was designed and built by Vietnamese companies and the construction time was shortened by four months.”
The simultaneous ceremonies of 250 large-scale projects will provide momentum for national socio-economic development, enhance regional connectivity, and contribute to achieving this year’s growth target of 8.3–8.5%, with double-digit growth expected in the coming years.
