Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party Central Committee plenum reached consensus on evaluating the 5-year national socio-economic development, national finance and medium-term public investment from 2016 to 2020, and the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first six months of 2021. The Party Central Committee concurrently gave opinions and directions for the completion of the draft 5-year national socio-economic development and financial plan and medium-term public investment until 2025 to submit to the 15^th National Assembly for consideration.

The Party leader affirmed that the Party Central Committee respectfully acknowledges the efforts of the entire Party, people, and army in thoroughly grasping and implementing the Resolution of the 13^th National Party Congress.

“In the first 6 months of the year, Vietnam continued to persistently pursue the goal of drastic disease prevention and control while promoting socio-economic development. Many achievements were recorded: The economy grew 5.64%, more than the same period last year, the macro economy and money and foreign exchange markets were stable; inflation was controlled; state budget revenue reached 58.2% of the estimate, up 15.5% over the same period in 2020; investment, production and business activities, and import and export continued to expand,” said Mr. Trong.

“People's lives, especially workers in pandemic-hit and disadvantaged areas, continued to be taken care of. The benevolent nature of the regime and the Vietnamese people’s spirit of patriotism, solidarity, and "loving other as you love yourself" was maintained and promoted.”

The Party General Secretary urged greater efforts to thoroughly comprehend the Resolution of the 13^th National Party Congress and achieve the goals of the term.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said, “the new regulations have closely followed the Party's Rules, inheriting the core points of the previous terms’ regulations, supplementing and amending a number of points to address the situation of the 13^th tenure.”

“The working regulations of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat have made a few important supplements and amendments related to the responsibilities and authority of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, and their members and the responsibilities and authority of the Party General Secretary.”

According to Mr. Trong, regulations on implementing the Party’s Rules this time are focused on making the work of party members better. The amendments and supplements to regulations on inspection, supervision and discipline of the Party has concretized the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and supplemented many other specific regulations in order to fully and properly promote the function of inspection and supervision.

The Party Central Committee lauded the efforts of the Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Organization Commission, and relevant agencies in renovating and improving the quality of cadre work and implementing the Resolution of the Party Central Committee’s previous plenum on finalizing positions in the Party and the State’s leadership.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said decisions made at this plenum are of great importance and given close attention by cadres, party members, and the public, and will help concretize the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. Effective implementation of the Resolution of this plenum will contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on socio-economic development, building a clean, strong, and comprehensive Party and political system, and building a law-governed socialist state that is lean, effective, and efficient.
