Vietnam stimulates tourism in adapting to pandemic

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has issued a plan to stimulate tourism and travel in late 2021 and early 2022. Favorable conditions will be offered for domestic and foreign travelers, who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in line with internationally-recognized regulations.

The Ministry will step up vaccination of residents and workers at tourist centers, and strengthen preventive measures at tourist sites, accommodations, and services.

Nguyen Tien Dat, Director of the AZA Travel Company, says: “Government agencies can start permitting travel by domestic tourists who have been fully vaccinated and have tested negative for SARS-COV-2. A huge number of domestic travelers could save the tourist sector from collapse.”

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) says it will focus on the domestic market. Localities which have contained the pandemic can receive visitors. Phu Quoc city in Kien Giang province will start receiving foreign tourists in November and the model is expected to be replicated in other localities like Ha Long, Họoi An, Nha Trang, and Da Lat. VNAT’s General Director Nguyen Trung Khanh says: “We have asked relevant agencies to propose safety criteria to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for approval as localities are reopening to tourism. All localities should use the same criteria to avoid disagreements.”

VNAT has developed a national tourism database, a “Vietnam Safe Tourism” health declaration system at www.safe.tourism.com.vn, and a vaccination management system at www.travelpass.tourism.vn. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has launched two tourist stimulus campaigns called “Vietnamese Travel Vietnam” and “Vietnam’s safe, attractive tourism”. Every city and province will design tourism products to meet customers’ preferences.
