(VOVWORLD) -With traditional agriculture facing mounting challenges, many households in Hung Yen province are turning to high-tech farming and green, circular production models in both livestock and crop cultivation. These innovative approaches are delivering economic and environmental gains, creating breakthroughs for local agricultural development.

On a one-hectare farm in Dong hamlet, Thuy Anh commune, Bui Nguyen Chat’s family operates a chicken egg facility. Chat uses biological bedding, which treats waste directly inside the barn, eliminates odors, and minimizes diseases, helping maintain a stable flock.
With 6,000 chickens, the farm produces more than 3,000 eggs per day. The bio-bedding needs replacement only several times per year and can be reused as fertilizer, reducing costs and increasing income, Chat said.
"If we didn’t do this, it would be difficult to run a large-scale farm today. This is a closed-loop model, so biological bedding is essential. Raising a batch of chickens takes more than a year, during which time we change the bedding three or four times," he told VOV
In Dong hamlet, several families have adopted a model that combines duck farming with fish farming. Low-yield rice fields have been converted to fishponds equipped with closed barn and circulating water treatment systems. Ducks swimming on the pond create oxygen and make use of rough feed, while their waste provides nutrients for the fish.
This keeps the pond clean, helps the fish grow faster, reduces feed costs, and limits pollution and disease. The integrated garden-pond-duck model has helped several households earn between 5,700 and 7,600 USD per year.

Thuy Anh commune now has 30 households successfully implementing circular agricultural economy models. Reusing waste and by-products creates safe products, reduces inefficiencies, protects the environment, and opens new directions for climate-resilient, modern agriculture.
Ngo Van Phuc, Chairman of the Thuy Anh commune Farmers' Association, said, "The Fatherland Front and mass social organizations have coordinated with schools and other units to organize training, technology transfer, and vocational classes for rural workers. We also increased communications and mobilized members, farm owners, and households to adopt these closed-loop circular models."
The success of circular agricultural models in Thuy Anh offers valuable lessons for replication, paving the way to a modern, efficient, sustainable farming sector. On three hectares in Tong Tran commune, the An Thinh Phat Vegetables and Medicinal Herb Production and Supply Cooperative exemplifies green production driven by science and technology. Cooperative Director Bui Van Phuong has invested in greenhouse cultivation of cantaloupe, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes, all meeting organic VietGAP standards.
By strictly following cultivation and harvesting protocols, the cooperative consistently achieves high yields and quality, with products well-received in the market. Last year it produced 80 tons of cantaloupe, 50 tons of Maya cucumbers, and 12 tons of chili peppers and tomatoes, generating nearly 114,000 USD in revenue.
"The Cooperative now has have two OCOP products: cantaloupe with a 4-star rating and cucumbers with a 3-star rating. The market is stable,” said Phuong, adding, “In addition to supplying supermarket chains like GO! and AEON, we provide goods to gift shops and other channels, receiving very positive feedback."
The cooperative plans to expand its cultivation areas and increase its output of safe, high-quality products.
Nguyen Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Hung Yen provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, said, "This is an outstanding model of high-tech agricultural production using net houses and greenhouses for crops such as cantaloupe, one of Hung Yen’s high-value fruits and vegetables. This direction is being encouraged for farmers with scientific expertise and financial capacity."

The success of green and circular agricultural models in Hung Yen proves the development direction is well aligned with modern, sustainable trends. Through the application of technology, heightened environmental awareness, and efficient use of local resources, farmers are increasing economic value while building a safer, more environmentally friendly production ecosystem.
These achievements create a foundation for Hung Yen to expand key production zones and provide valuable experience for replication nationwide, contributing to a greener, cleaner, more sustainable future for Vietnamese agriculture.
