B: Forget about the dark tragedy. Umm Ali remains the pride of all Egyptians. Our guest today is food blogger Phan Anh. Phan Anh is the author of the cook book “Worldwide gastronomic discovery in 80 days”, which teaches children to cook using recipes from around the world. Phan Anh: Umm Ali is an easy-to-make dish. It is made from milk, puff pastry, dried fruits, and nuts, which are easy to find. You can use whatever kind of cake mould you like, as long as it contains liquid and can be baked in the oven.

A: Though it’s a simple recipe, it requires some ingredients that the adults should help kids to prepare.

B: You need: 300 grams of puff pastry, 50 grams of raisins, 100 ml of orange juice, grated orange peel, 30 grams of almonds, fresh coconut, sugar, fresh milk, and 300 ml of whipping cream.

Phan Anh: It is necessary that the Umm Ali is made from puff pastry, which is delicate, light and flaky. Puff pastry is available at supermarkets or grocery stores nearby. You can make puff pastry yourself from puff pastry dough. First, take a baking tray, wipe the tray with a little butter, and place the puff pastry dough in the tray. Bake it in the oven at 180 0C until it turns crisp.

Next, take the raisins out of the orange juice, then spread grated orange peel, raisins, sugar, coconut, and almonds on the puff pastry. Mix fresh milk, whipping cream, and orange juice together and pour the mixture in until it covers the pastry. Finally, bake the cake for 15 to 20 minutes until it turns golden brown. Umm Ali can be served either hot or cold.
