Launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the movement has been increasingly spread.

As soon as it was implemented in Cao Xa commune in 2023, the 'Compassionate Community' model received positive responses.

The commune administration has compiled lists of poor and near-poor households and families facing misfortune in the residential areas, and has established groups to mobilize support and donations from benefactors and local residents.

Many local disadvantaged households have benefited from the model. They include Ms. Do Thuan Tinh in the residential area 5 in Cao Xa, who was helped financially to undergo kidney transplant surgery. Another villager in residential area 5, Hoang Thi Vinh, who is the sole support of her disabled younger brother, received support from the Charitable Community Fund of the commune’s Red Cross Society's to repair her house.

The financing has directly helped those in need and promoted the spirit of neighborliness and mutual love in Cao Xa Commune.

The “Compassionate Community” in Cao Xa also aims to provide spiritual encouragement and long-term support to unfortunate people.

Cao Thi Xuan Hoa, Chairwoman of the Red Cross Society of Cao Xa commune, said that in fact, for many years, the tradition of mutual affection and assistance in villages has been maintained.

But the model has united the locals more closely and enabled them to carry out mutual help activities more efficiently while the generosity of benefactors is reaching those in need more accurately.

Last year alone, through the “Compassionate Community” model, the commune's Red Cross Society handed over more than 103 million VND (4,000 USD) to 14 humanitarian cases and built a humanitarian house worth 270 million VND (11,000 USD) through the coordinated funding of benefactors, local residents, and businesses. A poor household in the residential area 3 was financed to build auxiliary facilities with socialized capital of 125 million VND (5,000 USD). Four houses of near-poor families were renovated at a cost of 9 million VND (355 USD).

Cao Xa villagers have enthusiastically responded to the “Compassionate Community” model. It has been spread across the district, becoming a highlight in the 'Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a compassionate community' movement of Phu Tho province. Pursuant to the 'Leaving no one behind' motto, the locality will further improve its communications activities to call on more benefactors to join.
