The joint patrol aimed to strengthen coordination in the fight against crimes and law violations at sea, particularly at the end of the year.
During the patrol, the Vietnam Coast Guard disseminated information and asked dozens of fishing vessels from both countries operating in the bordering sea area to strictly comply with regulations against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, so as to help with having the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning lifted and developing the Vietnamese fisheries industry in a sustainable manner.
Joint patrols in the bordering waters is conducted quarterly by the coast guard forces of Vietnam and China, aiming to maintain security and order and ensure legal compliance among citizens of both nations.
