(VOVWORLD) - Two ships carrying a mainland delegation and Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts left Vung Tau City on Wednesday for a voyage to DK1 platforms, duty ships, and radar stations in Truong Sa (Spratly) islands.

Seeing off the delegation, Colonel Tran Manh Chien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Naval Region 2, shared that the necessities, Tet gifts and simple gifts from the mainland are the care of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnamese at home and abroad for Vietnam’s sea and islands and the servicemen on DK1 platforms in particular.
The delegation will visit and extend Lunar New Year wishes to the civil and party agencies and armed forces stationed in Con Dao district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
28 agencies, organizations and individuals are sending more than 1,000 packages of Tet gifts, which include cakes, candies, sticky rice, dong leaves, green beans, pork paste, vermicelli, kumquat trees, apricot and peach blossoms.
