(VOVWORLD) - In its Decode Scam campaign launched on August 6 in Vietnam, Meta highlights seven prevalent types of scams targeting internet users as follows:

| Messaging scam (Smishing): Scammers pose as trusted entities via SMS to steal personal information through fake links or urgent requests. |

| Romance scam: Criminals build fake romantic relationships online to manipulate victims into sending money or investing in fraudulent schemes. |

| Investment scam: Fraudsters promise high returns on fake investment opportunities, often promising little to no risk and using cryptocurrency or exclusive coaching groups as bait. |

| Impersonation scam: Attackers steal online identities to cause financial or reputational harm, or to threaten and harass victims. |

| Online shopping scams: Fake websites or ads trick consumers into purchasing products that never arrive or don’t exist. |

| Job scams: Fake job offers deceive job seekers into paying fees, disclosing personal information, or working for free. |
 |
| Account hacking scam: Hackers take control of social media or other accounts to steal data, impersonate users, or infiltrate organizations. |
