11 injured in stabbing at a Michigan Walmart
(VOVWORLD) -At least 11 people were injured, including 6 in critical condition, in a stabbing attack at a Walmart supermarket in Traverse City, Michigan, USA. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. local time on Saturday.
A man used a folding knife to stab 11 people near the checkout area of the store. Shoppers helped restrain the suspect. According to Sheriff Shea, the 42-year-old suspect is a Michigan resident who appeared to have randomly attacked the crowd with the knife. He declined to provide further details about the suspect or a possible motive, pending additional investigation with the support of state police and the FBI.
In a statement, Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her deepest condolences to the victims and the community, and strongly condemned the brutal act of violence.
