(VOVworld)- The 2014 United Nations Day of Vesak began Wednesday at Bai Dinh pagoda in Ninh Binh province. The event, scheduled for May 7th to 11th, is of great importance for Vietnam because it will help to raise Vietnamese Buddhism’s profile internationally and promote the image of Vietnam’s land and people to the world. Day of Vesak 2014 will be attended by 1000 delegates from 100 countries and territories around the world, including monks and dignitaries of traditional Buddhist sects and Vietnamese and foreign Buddhist followers. A ceremony to pray for peace for Vietnam and the world will be held as one of the event’s activities.
