Vietnam will present a film entitled “Yen’s Life”, describing the unlucky life of a girl in Vietnam’s northern rural area in the middle of the 20th Century. The film bagged many domestic prizes at the 19th Vietnam Film Festival in 2015. It won the grand prize at the 9th World Premieres Film Festival in the Philippines in July 2016. Vu Van Minh is Minister Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic: “The film ‘Yen’s Life’ describes customs for Vietnamese women under semi-colonial and semi-feudal regime in Vietnam’s northern countryside. Under the regime, countrywomen mostly had no role in society and did not go to school. Through this film, Czech audience can learn more about Vietnam’s history, culture, and customs.”
The annual event aims to present the unique culture of ASEAN and its members to Czech people.
