Activities underway to support Vietnamese Agent Orange/Dioxin victims

(VOVWORLD) - On Saturday, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and presented gifts to Agent Orange/dioxin victims at the Center for Care, Nurture, and Treatment of Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Yen Bai commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Day for Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2024).

The Center currently provides regular care, treatment, and support for over 100 Agent Orange victims.

In her speech, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highlighted the urgent need to address the consequences of toxic chemicals/dioxins, emphasizing the profound humanitarian significance of this task.

She underscored that effectively managing this issue not only protects human health, the environment, and fosters socio-economic development but also contributes to the global struggle for peace and a world free of war and chemical weapons. The Vice President called on departments, ministries, sectors, and localities to continue implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies related to overcoming the consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin.

The same day, the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Soc Trang province organized visits, provided gifts, and offered material and spiritual support to local victims and their families.

Since the beginning of the year, the total value of cash and in-kind support for Agent Orange victims and people with disabilities in Soc Trang province has reached nearly 400,000 USD.

The Association also provided funding to build compassion houses for 22 households of Agent Orange victims, with a total cost of 60,000 USD.
