(VOVworld) - Heads of the Arab League (AL) countries agreed Sunday to create a joint Arab military force in a joint statement reached during the 26^th Arab summit in Sharm el-Sheikh. A meeting will be held next month to discuss way to establish the force.
The joint statement also called on Houthi rebels in Yemen to leave the capital city of Sanaa and restore authority to the government. AL countries declared their support for the Saudi-led coalition against Houthi rebels in Yemen, initiated by the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) last Wednesday according to a call from the Yemeni government.
