Provincial Innovation Index 2024 to be released soon
(VOVWORLD) - The Provincial Innovation Index (PII) 2024, which will be published soon, will provide an overview of the current status of the socio-economic development model, assess science, technology, and innovation in each locality, said Nguyen Hoang Giang, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
According to Giang, the PII will also identify strengths, weaknesses, potentials, and necessary conditions for socio-economic growth.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is in charge of monitoring the Global Innovation Index in which Vietnam ranks 44th of 133 countries this year, up 2 places from last year, and still 2nd among low-middle-income countries.
“The Ministry has issued the Provincial Innovation Index framework and guidance documents for 2024. Workshops have been organized to guide the collection of data and documents needed to calculate each locality’s index,” said Giang.
The Provincial Innovation Index, based on 52 indicators in seven categories, is a useful reference for businesses trying to decide on the scale and form of their investment in a locality. It also contributes to implementing the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation Development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
