(VOVWORLD) - The 27th ASEAN Directors-General of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs Divisions of Ministries of Foreign Affairs Meeting (DGICM 27) opened in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, on Wednesday to address challenges to immigration and consular affairs.

High on the agenda of the meeting, with the theme "Comprehensive security and enhanced connectivity toward the future", will be cooperation programs between ASEAN and its partners.
Since its first edition in 1996, DGICM has been held annually as a forum for discussing issues of common concern and sharing experience in immigration and consular management.
The meeting will propose initiatives, measures, and mechanisms to strengthen immigration cooperation within and outside the bloc, facilitate citizens' travel, and combat illegal immigration.
