Australia shares 7.8 million COVID vaccine doses with Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - A batch of 2.2 million Australia-donated COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

The donation completed Australia’s pledge to share 7.8 million doses with Vietnam, in which 4.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine was from its own supply and the rest was via a partnership with UNICEF.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Robyn Mudie, welcomed the handover, calling Australia a close friend and partner of Vietnam, and suggested both countries continue to unite in fighting COVID-19.

UNICEF Representative in Vietnam Rana Flowers thanked the Australian government for the precious vaccine sharing with Vietnam and said Vietnam has proved its safe vaccination and effective vaccine use.
