A highlight is the expansion of cultural and tourism experiences closely connected with local communities and heritage spaces. These include experiencing a “soldiers’ meal” at the former Dien Bien Phu battlefield, and live performances recreating historical events and showcasing traditional culture.
The Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum will host activities that retrace the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign.
“We want to give visitors a deeper experience than looking at documents and artifacts and hearing stories told by tour guides. Through vivid and authentic historical reenactments, visitors can better understand the hardships and determination of our army and people during the 1954 campaign,” said Vu Thi Tuyet Nga, Director of the Museum.

A street carnival, held for the first time, will feature a parade, art performances, and a fireworks display.
This year’s festival will also include sports activities that reflect the identity of Dien Bien, such as cannon-pulling, pushing supply bicycles, ammunition carrying, corn grinding, Giay cake pounding, a tug of war, a cycling race, and an expanded cross-country race called “Return to Dien Bien Phu.”
